Lester A. Tinner, 80, of Unionville, passed away at home, Friday, February 14, 2020. Born May 20, 1939 near Philadelphia, PA, he made many fun memories growing up with brother, Art, and sister, Martha Ann, spending summer with extended family at Lake Carey. Les graduated from Shelton College in New Jersey. After marrying Vivien Crookshanks August 19, 1961, they relocated to her hometown in Mentor, OH, where he began a long and storied career with the United States Postal Service. He served as supervisor in Mentor, Officer-in-charge at Geneva Post Office, Postmaster at Madison, OH and completed his tenure with the U.S.P.S. at Painesville, OH. Les loved sports, lettered in multiple sports in high school and college, then coached in youth sports leagues in Mentor and Geneva. He spent many hours at gymnasiums, ball fields and stadiums watching his children and grandchildren compete in their sports. Les was active in his community, serving on the Harpersfield Twp. Zoning Board and as Trustee. He passed on his faith in God, serving at Faith Baptist Church; S. Madison Bible Baptist Church and most recently, Grace Baptist Church of Geneva. He served as choir director, youth leader, bus driver, Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Elizabeth and Lester Albert Tinner; stepmother, Ann B. Tinner; and son, Steven A. Tinner. He is rejoicing in Heaven with them today. Les is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vivien; brother, Lowell Arthur (Ginny) Tinner; sister, Martha Ann Tinner; children, Deborah (Anthony) Cardaman; Mark (Sharon) Tinner, Ken (Stephanie) Tinner; and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Reichel Tinner; grandchildren, Alisabeth (Trenton) Langer, Anthony Cardaman, III, Aidan Cardaman, and Kaleb, Kaden and Seth Tinner. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 10AM until the time of a 12:00 PM funeral service at Faith Baptist Church, 3003 Narrows Rd. Perry, OH. Pastor Stoney Drain will officiate and a luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 5441 Cork-Cold Springs, P.O. Box 733, Geneva, OH 44041.   1. So sorry to hear about Mr. Tinner passing. He was a tremendous influence on me and many kids in the Geneva area. I enjoyed his talks of life and how to be a good person and make good choices. Not that I always listened to him, but to this day, his voice is in head! One of the greats!

  4. We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Lester. We enjoyed many summers of our youth with Lester and Arthur at Lake Carey. We feel so fortunate to have wonderful memories of those years.
