June 16, 1951 ~ February 2, 2024

Leonard Bruce Ashburn, age 72 of Madison, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, February 2, 2024. He was born June 16, 1951 in Youngstown Ohio, the son of Dorethea M. (Lawrence) & Clarence E. Ashburn. Bruce attended high school at Niles and after graduation went on to complete an engineering degree through Lakeland College. He worked as an Engineer at Perfection Corporation for 35 years. He was a man of nature and loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, bird watching and hiking when he could. Most would say he was an eclectic man who enjoyed karate as a black belt, scuba diving, taxidermy, epoxy art, reading, Gunsmoke, Sci-Fi and pretty much any movie that was “so stupid that it’s funny”. Bruce thoroughly enjoyed all sports and never missed the opportunity to attend his family members athletic endeavors. But the thing that would resound most with those who loved and knew him best would be his love of family, everlasting selflessness, patience, kindness and strength. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha L. Minick (Rob); grandsons, Kyle Ashburn (Noël), Mason Mincik; Granddaughter Amelia Mincik; brothers, Richard W. (Rita) Ashburn and Bradley L. (Debbie) Ashburn; mother-in-law, Ann Ashburn; sister-in-law, Linda Ashburn. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane C. Ashburn; devoted mother & father Dorethea Ashburn & Clarence Ashburn; and his Brother, Rodger Ashburn. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. in Madison. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Rock Creek.
