Leland Robert Gerwin

Leland Gerwin passed away in Venice, Florida on August 2, 2015 at the age of 92. Leland was born July 30,1923 in Sandusky, Ohio, to Pauline Becker Gerwin and Henry Herman Gerwin of Gibsonburg, Ohio. Lee served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Leland worked as an engineer for General Motors at the GM Tech Center in suburban Detroit. Lee and his wife, Lauretta Vandyke Gerwin, raised 8 sons in Royal Oak, Michigan. He retired in 1985. Lee and Lauretta lived for 25 years in Venice, FL. They spent many wonderful summers in Madison, Ohio where Lee's mother-in-law, Martha Vandyke lived. Lauretta passed away on January 24, 2014 after 70 years of a wonderful marriage. Lee is survived by 7 sons, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Leland R Gerwin will be laid to rest in Madison, Ohio, on Oct 10, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at noon at Central Congregational Church, 71 Park Street, Madison, Ohio. Dad was a great man and father and will be missed everyday by his sons and grandchildren.
