Lawrence “Skip” Vaught, age 67, of Austinburg, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in New Lyme, Ohio. He was born January 7, 1953 in Mullens, West Virginia, the son of Lottie Marie Acord Vaught Cook and Lloyd Darrell Vaught. Skip graduated in 1971 from Glen Rogers High School. He married Caroline Myers on November 29, 1971, and cherished her for 48 years. Skip retired in 2015 after more than 45 years in the masonry profession. A longtime Geneva-area resident, he enjoyed fishing, loved his family, and kept a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Skip is survived by wife, Caroline; son, Stan (Maureen) Vaught; daughter, Sarah (Ric Derbin) Vaught Nageotte; grandchildren, Max Ferris, Garrett Vaught, Keegan Vaught; sisters, Ginette Acord, Julie Horton, Terri Lynn Blake, and Sheila Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gordon Stanley Vaught. Friends will be received 1-3 pm Sunday, September, 13, 2020 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio 44057. A graveside service will take place 10 am Monday, September 14, 2020 at Harpersfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Skip’s name be made to the ODNR Wildlife Fund, 2045 Morse Road, Bldg G-1, Columbus, Ohio 43229-6693.
