September 4, 1940 ~ September 21, 2019

Lawrence A. “Larry” “Hawk” Osborne, age 79, of Geneva, passed away September 21, 2019. He was born September 4, 1940 in Massillon, OH to Hazel (Grove) McFarren and Mark J. Osborne, and he was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School in Canton. Larry worked as a meat cutter at Loblaws in Akron and then as a draftsman for True Temper in Geneva. Larry found his passion when he became a journeyman electrician and was a 50-year member of both I.B.E.W. 762 in Ashtabula which later merged with Local 673, Mentor. He worked on various projects including Ashtabula Mall, Great Lakes Mall, Perry Nuclear Power Plant, and many factories and other facilities in both Ohio and out of state. Larry retired in 1997. Previously, Larry was a Boy Scout Leader and a member of both Kiwanis and the Ruritan Clubs. He volunteered his electrical skills to the Geneva Area Grape Jamboree, Assumption Church Festival, Ashtabula County Fair, and Harpersfield Covered Bridge Festival, etc.. Also, he was an appliance repairman for Griffiths Home & Auto, and was self-employed at Osborne Electric. In retirement, his passion was building furniture and radio-controlled airplanes, which he was much better at building than flying. His planes often crash-landed, sometimes in high trees. He was brilliant, hardworking, and could fix anything. Most of all, Larry loved his family, and his best times were spent with them. Larry met the love of his life Maritza Malcolm while working at True Temper and they were married on August 6, 1966 at Assumption Church in Geneva. Larry leaves behind his wife, son, Gregory Osborne; daughter, Rebecca Osborne (Brian Whitford); sisters, Linda (George) Lyras, Jetta Orr; brothers, Scott (Barbara) McFarren, Cullen McFarren; sister-in-law, Marlene (Larry) Robertson; step-parents, Wayne (Beverly) McFarren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his mother; father; grandparents, brother, Mark Jay Osborne; and nephews, Mark A. Abraham, and Samuel J. Robertson. Friends may be received 3-6 pm Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S Broadway in Geneva. A service will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry’s name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO BOX 72101, Cleveland, OH 44197-9935.
