Larry D. Smith

Larry D. Smith Sr., 84, of Ashtabula formally of Roaming Shores, died Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born October 8, 1934, in Edmonton, KY to Fred and Edna Smith. Survivors include sons, Larry D. Smith Jr. (Grace) of Columbus, OH, David R. Smith (Bev) of Bettendorf, IA, Gerald F Smith (Mark) Pensacola, FL, Kevin C. Smith (Lynett) Ashtabula, OH, Sister Betty (Marjorie) Wilmert Lincoln, IL, Sue Teng (Cheng) Chicago, IL, Nancy Sprague (Chris) Lincoln, IL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Laura Nell Tabb, and Joanne Klokkenga. Larry graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He worked for several companies before starting his accounting practice in 1975 Advanced Management Systems. He served small and medium businesses in the Ashtabula County until his retirement in 1994 when his son Kevin took over the practice. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He served as the accountant and an elder at Geneva Church of Christ. He was a dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians.In lieu, of flowers, make donations to Geneva Church of Christ 1007 S Broadway Geneva, OH 44041.On December 8th, 2018 11:00 am a memorial service will take place at Geneva Church of Christ 1007 S Broadway Geneva, OH 44041 lunch will take place after the service.The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangement.
