Kenneth L Foucher
May 31, 1956 ~ December 27, 2013
Kenneth L. Foucher, 57, of Thompson, died of medical problems Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born May 31, 1956, in Cleveland to Frances and Bernard Foucher.
Ken was the owner and operator of North Coast Door, an industrial and residential garage door company he founded decades ago, and which he grew to serve many clients throughout northern Ohio. He ceased operation of the company in 2004, after a motorcycle crash left him paralyzed.
His many skills and talents placed him, perhaps by definition, in the category of a handyman. By way of tenacity and dedication, however, he placed himself at the helm of a company he formed from the ground-up. He was a well-rounded individual in all things mechanical and technical, with a keen eye for the small details and a deep appreciation for hard work.
As a lifelong outdoorsman, he spent many a day and evening hunting and fishing. In more recent years, he was more apt to drop a line at the sizable pond he built in the backyard of his home in Thompson.
His family and close friends will remember him most for his quick wit and everlasting sense of humor, which he nurtured with renewed zeal as he found himself confined to a wheelchair in recent years. He enjoyed computers, model trains, trips to casinos and playing poker with his friends and family. More often than not, he had the winning hand.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina (Dusty) Shepard of San Diego, Calif.; sons Shawn (Amy) Foucher of North Ridgeville, Kenneth Foucher of Thompson, Lawrence Foucher of Perry and Joshua (Jessica) Foucher of Mentor-on-the-Lake; grandchildren, Lilah, Nicholas and Charlotte; brother Ronald (Holly) Foucher of Madison; former wife and good friend Shirley Foucher of Perry; and father, Bernard. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fran; stepfather, Ray Clowesley; brother, Larry; and sister, Cindy.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Madison Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Ohio.
Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Home in Madison.
