Kay Cynthia Spafford McMahan

Kay Cynthia Spafford McMahan age 73 a resident of Footville, Ohio. Passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at her home in Footville, Ohio. Born December 31, 1933 in Footville, Ohio to Virginia Lewis (Brock) & Erval Ainsworth Spafford. Married John Thresher McMahan Jr. on March 23, 1962, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. During their marriage they moved from Geneva-on-the-Lake to Footville to help manage The Spafford Farm. Employed as an elementary school teacher for several years at Silver Lake, Ohio. She was a 1952 graduate of Andrews School for Girls and graduated from Kent State University in 1956 with a B.S. in Education. She was an avid tennis and card player, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, and bowling. She devoted her life to her family and the farm. Kay was a 25-year survivor of breast cancer and counseled other cancer patients. She was strong in her beliefs and was always willing to stand up for them. She was a unique individual and her family and friends will miss her greatly. She is survived by her Husband of 45 years John Thresher McMahan Jr.; her Children John Thresher McMahan III, Jennifer Ivol McMahan, Robert (Robin) Spafford McMahan, Rachel (Timothy) Kay McMahan-Queen, Sarah (Ronald) Brock Catalucci; Grandchildren John ?Jake? Thresher McMahan IV & Virginia Rose Catalucci. She was preceded in death by Her parents, Virginia Lewis & Erval Ainsworth & Brother, Robert George Spafford. There will be a private family burial. Final Resting Place will be at Footville Cemetery.
