Katie P Erwin

Katie P. Erwin, age 73 of Geneva, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Geneva Shores. She was born February 23, 1940 in Crossville, TN to Mary Ellen (Wyatt) & Frederick Brown and married Monte Erwin in Geneva on September 16, 1978. Katie worked in the cafeteria for the Geneva Area Schools retiring in 1997. For many years, she and her husband volunteered at Homestead Nursing Home in Geneva. After her daughter passed away, Katie was proud to establish the Ellen Beitel Memorial Scholarship Fund giving her the opportunity to have a positive effect on young lives. She and Monte then served as Hospice volunteers for several years. A woman of faith, she had been involved with many churches throughout her life, most recently she was a member of the United Church in Geneva. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Sherri (Nathan) Seames of Geneva and Kim Beitel of Columbus; son, Jim (Joyce) Beitel of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Titus, Joshua, Ona, Ethan; great-grandchildren, Angeline, Tabitha, Cynthia, Brianna, Alyssa, Dyllan, Allison, Lauren, & Landon; brothers, Dean (Janice) Brown of Ashtabula, Ken (Yvonne) Brown of Anderson, SC & Doug (Joyce) Brown of Geneva; many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte; parents; daughter, Ellen Beitel; & brother, Lenley Brown. Friends will be received 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
