Karen Messina

Karen Messina, age 58, of Madison, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her husband and two children by her side after a 10 year battle with illness.
Karen was born July 6, 1954 in Johnstown, PA. She has lived in Madison for 32 years. Karen married the love of her life on November 23, 1974. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, exercising and most of all spending time with her 4 beautiful grandchildren. She worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Frank Sailors and Associates for 15 years and as a home childcare provider for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert. Her daughter, Stacy (James) Poe of Madison, her son R.J. of Madison, her 4 grandchildren, MaKayla, Marissa, James Mason and Marshall Poe. Her brothers Tony (Sharon) DePetro, Walt DePetro and Joe DePetro Sr. Sisters Mary (Mick) Cedor and Tanya (Ben) Wilshire all from PA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Mary DePetro.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church in Madison. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Richland Cemetery in Johnstown, PA. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor OH 44060.
