Judson Cooper
August 9, 1932 ~ March 21, 2022
Judson Burr Cooper, Jr., age 89, of Madison, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the David Simpson Hospice House. He was born August 9, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to J. Burr Cooper, Sr. and Dorothy (Pease) Cooper. Born during the depression, as an infant a drawer became his crib. He married Nancy Linton in Wickliffe on March 9, 1968.
Judd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, a member of the “Golden Dragons” 14th Infantry. He was Honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1954 after fighting beside his comrades in 5 major combats. Judd kept in touch with his “war time” buddies for the rest of his life and held deep respect for all veterans.
Judson earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Ohio University, where he also played hockey. Later, he became an electrician and joined IBEW Local #38 where as a loyal member he was set to receive his 60 year pin in 2022. Though he was a true fan of all Cleveland sports teams, Judd’s heart “beat” for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He rarely missed a game and often recalled his first in person Browns game at the age of 14! His parents never learning that he hitch hiked both ways just to attend!
Judd and Nancy are faithful members of St. Anne's Anglican Church of Madison.
Judson is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy; nephews, Curt Niebes, Ron (Marie) Niebes and their sons, Kevin and Nick , Chris (Julie) Niebes and their twins, Haley and Jake and “Loving son”, Flake (Sue) Vannoy and their son Gage. He was preceded in death by his cherished sons, Jason and Tyler; his parents; and his sister, Phyllis Niebes.
