Joyce A. Jersey Moody

Joyce A. Jersey Moody passed away suddenly in her home on July 13, 2016. She leaves behind her 3 heartbroken children, Kimberly Jersey Cottrell (Cecil) of AL, Michelle L. Moody (Jason) of OH, and Andrea Moody Ashbaugh (Mark) of CA; her sister, Patricia Jersey Jacobs of WV, and a brother-in-law, Ronald Helwig of GA; 2 grandchildren, Jason Cottrell and Meggan Cottrell; 1 great grandchild, Jason P. Cottrell; cousins Robert & Denise Kase, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and several wonderful friends that we consider family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Leona Jersey (Adams); her brother, Andrew Jersey; and sister, Juanita Jersey Helwig. She was born in Perry Ohio on December 9, 1939, and was the youngest of 4 children. She was a lifelong resident of Perry Ohio, attending Perry High School and graduating with the class of 1957. She also attended Lakeland Community College, where she received a certificate in Accounting. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and accountant while raising her children. She loved learning and challenging herself and others. In her later years she was an avid member of the Perry Senior Center and the Senior Writing Club. She enjoyed Zumba classes and swimming with her club .She was an author, an artist, and could compose and play music. She has been published for her beautiful poetry and stories. She loved gardening, music, animals and most of all, her family. Joyce will be laid to rest at Perry Cemetery next to her parents. The Behm Family Funeral home of Madison Ohio is serving Joyce's family. As Joyce always loved (enjoyed, was inspired by) the lake, her family plans a celebration of her life at Lake Erie in September.
