Josephine M. Sanzotta
May 28, 1931 ~ October 10, 2021
Josephine (Mazzatenta) Sanzotta, age 90, passed away Sunday evening, October 10, 2021 at the Saybrook Landing. She was born May 28, 1931 to John and Maria (D’Attilio) Mazzatenta in Geneva, Ohio. On August 28, 1950, she married Anthony Sanzotta, and together they made a home and a family.
A longtime Geneva resident, Josephine was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church and worked as a librarian for Geneva Schools. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her world and, as an amazing cook, she spoiled them all with her best Italian recipes.
Josephine leaves a rich legacy in the form of her 5 devoted children, Fran Cervas, Joni Romano, Dina Rosenau, Gina Monahan, Mick (Cindy) Sanzotta; her grandchildren, Mallory and Robert Cervas, Nicole Romano, Jolee (Oakley) Clement, Mario Romano, Megan (Matt) Flynn, Clare Lattanze, Taylor (Adam) Bell, Samuel (Hannah) Gondek, Tony (Joelle), Dominic and Emma Sanzotta; five great-grandchildren, Annie and Willow Clement, Ada and Ivy Bell, and Blaire Gondek; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; and her sister, Elaine Wright.
Private family services are being observed, and Josephine will be laid to rest with her husband at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family extends their deepest thanks for everyone’s love and support.
