Joseph Sandella Jr.

Joseph Sandella, Jr., age 83, Austinburg, OH, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born January 25, 1930 in Ashtabula to Mary (Varckette) & Joseph Sandella. He attended Edgewood School and then worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail, retiring with 42 years of service. He also retired after 19 years of service with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Joseph enjoyed family picnics and reunions and boating and fishing on Lake Erie. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Samantha (Charlie) Leighner of Austinburg, OH; granddaughters, Abby & Ally Leighner; brothers, Eugene (Jackie) Sandella of Brandenton, FL and Robert (Shirley) Sandella of Garden Grove CA; sister-in-law, Ann Sandella and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurel Lynn; parents; brother, Anthony; sisters, Mary Jane Spiesman and Greta Cinciarelli. Private family services will be observed. Final resting place will be at Mechanicsville Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041.
