Joseph Michael Hrutkay, age 66 of Madison, OH passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic. Born December 16, 1958 in Maryville, TN he was the son of Emery and Florine (Pendleton) Hrutkay. He was a graduate of Euclid High School in 1976. In 1989 he married the love of his life, Kathy Heyduk and together they raised a beautiful family.

Joe worked as a Mechanical Engineer Lab Technician for the Lubrizol Corporation in Wickliffe for 38 years where he also served on the Volunteer Firefighter Team. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Madison.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; mother, Florine; children, Michael (Shelby) Hrutkay, Kyle Hrutkay, and Heather Hrutkay; grandchildren, Blake, Blaire, Bentley. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Joe’s passions included spending time with his loving family and friends. Often, he would be found building Legos, watching Formula 1 and Star Wars and collecting Hot Wheels. Joe always remained a kid at heart. Others will remember Joe as the man with one-too-many cars. He’d be seen tinkering with his cars in the garage. His knowledge and skills as a mechanic was shown through his generosity and willingness to help family and friends fix their own. His passion for cars will be carried on by his three children. Joe’s family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road in Madison with burial immediately following at North Madison Cemetery. I’ll always cherish the countless memories with the Hrutkay family—from the monster truck shows and watching the Browns, to building the 4-wheeler track at Granny’s and learning to drive in the old Cadillac in the backyard. So many great moments. Michael, Kyle, and Heather were truly blessed to have such an incredible father who filled their lives with love and joy. I can only hope to be as loving and devoted a husband and father as Joe was.

Joe will be with you always and when you see that cardinal sitting in the window or a tree nearby, it’s “Joe” just letting you know he’s nearby…..always.
