Joseph ?Joe? Lander, age 84, of Madison, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 University Hospitals of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born April 7, 1924 in Lucinda, Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth (Ochs) & Jacob Lander amd married Julie (Klepfer) in Lucinda, Pennsylvania on March 29, 1948. Occupation: Iron Workers Local #17 Graduate of St. Joseph?s High School in Lucinda, Pennsylvania. Served in the U.S. Army in World War II where he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a life member of VFW #8548, American Legion Post 601, and Disabled American Veterans. He loved landscaping and gardening. Most of all he was a loving and caring man who was always giving to his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julie of Madison, Children, Janice (Dick) McNellie of Madison, Karen (Gary) Burns of Montgomery, Texas, Debbie (Doug) Ungers of Madison, TJ (Marcy) Lander of Madison, Rick Lander of Madison and Cheri Izzarelli of Madison; 8 Grandchildren, Scott McNellie, Max and Alex Ungers, Joe and Samantha Lander, Erica, Allison and Jenna Izzarelli; 4 Great Grandchildren Ty, Tayah, Lillie and Chase; 2 Sisters Virginia and Bernadette He was preceded in death by His Parents, 9 Brothers and Sisters Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 South Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4500 Rockside Road, Suite 440, Independence, OH 44131.
