John L Washburn

John L. Washburn, age 88 of Geneva-on-the-Lake, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014. He was born April 18, 1926 in Rochester, NY, the adopted son of Dr. John L. & Grace Washburn. He married Shirley Sample on April 7, 1978 in Youngstown, OH. He resided in Youngstown, Ohio and worked as a credit manager until moving to Geneva-on-the-Lake. He was employed by Pera & Pera until 1987 when he was employed by the Village of Geneva-on-the-Lake as a Rehab officer and later assistant to the mayor and court clerk until retirement. He is survived by his step-daughters, Sheree Schmies, Debbee (Ronnie) Keeton; grandchildren, Amber (James) Smith, Shaun Schmies, Kendra Schmies, Sara Shaw (Roger Latak), Justin (Mallory) Shaw & 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Shirley Washburn and his parents. Private family services will be observed.
