John Jeremiah Selwyn, age 71 of Madison, passed away on September 2, 2024 at his home.  Born September 17, 1952 in Omaha NE, he was the son of Jeremiah Donahue and Barbara Carpenter-Selwyn.  A 1971 graduate of Euclid High School and well known throughout the community of Madison, John owned and operated his own construction company, Arcola Building Company Inc. 

In his youth, John enjoyed participation in all sporting events, even loved teaching disabled youth to ski.  He lived for one year off the land in the Everglades to the astonishment of all.

With an amazing sense of humor, he always appreciated talking politics.  He never got his chance to mine for gold out west however he was known for his hard work and his joy for helping others.  John’s favorite quote was “There are no problems, only solutions.”

 He is survived by his wife, June (Wheeler) Selwyn who he married in Claridon, Ohio in 1994; his daughter, Stephanie (Tom) Kaufman; sons, Justin Patrick and Greg (Monica Krihwan) Black; grandchildren, Robert Black, Jack Kaufman and Maxwell Kaufman, brother, Rory (Lisa) Selwyn and sister, Amy (J.D.) Davis.

 Friends and family will be received from 4-6 pm. on Friday September 6, 2024 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, in Madison.  A Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 pm. at the funeral home.
