John Benning Kuhn

John Benning Kuhn, age 70 of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1952 in Painesville. John grew up in Madison, and graduated from Madison High School in 1970. After high school John enlisted in the US Marines and served 1 tour of duty in Vietnam. When he returned home from the service he attended Bowling Green State University.
He owned and operated his own HVAC business, and served many local residents and businesses. John was loved by all of his family, friends, and neighbors, and was known for his generosity and giving heart.
John was preceded in death by his father, John A. (Jack) Kuhn, his stepmother Ruth Kuhn, and his sister, Sarah. He is survived by his brother, Edward (Katherine) Kuhn, niece Lindsay (Eric) Heidenreich, nephew Brian (Allison) Kuhn and great niece Elise Heidenreich.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery in Madison Village. Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family at this time. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com

John was the first person to make friends with me when I went to Homer Nash Kimball in the 5th. Grade. We were best friends in 5th. and 6th grade. I have many great memories of John. I’m sorry for your loss.
John and I have been friends for many years from knowing each other from Gunny’s Hall. He is loved by many and will be missed. I’m so sorry for your loss. He is, was and always will be a good man. Cantankerous but good, I will miss our banter most of all.
John was a good guy. I kept in touch with him through his bad times but he was usually upbeat just complained about the vertigo. He did many air conditioning jobs for me. He will be missed.
