Joann MacWilliams, age 84 passed away on January 10, 2022. She was born in South Carolina, to Louis and Agnes (Davis) Burrows on June 23, 1937. Joann, along with her late husband, owned and operated Gurley’s Restaurant in Fairport Harbor, which was known for its great food, specifically their Friday Fish Frys. She was an avid painter, loved to polka, and enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends. She was extremely sociable all throughout her life, and in her later years, found great pleasure demoing products at local Giant Eagles. Joann leaves behind her children; Joseph (Patty) Passafiume, Robert Passafiume, David (Kathy) Passafiume, Jean (Barry) Honse, Jim Passafiume, Frank (Karen) MacWilliams, and Tom MacWilliams; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Ken (Beth) Bates, and many nieces and nephews. Joann is preceded in death by her husband, Frank MacWilliams; sisters, Pat, Betty, Shirley, and Joan; and her brothers, Lou and Don. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Harpersfield Cemetery. Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family.   1. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Joann meant the world to anyone that had the honor of calling her a friend. Being retired now, I know I’ll never have the privilege to have a co-worker again like her. I love you Joann.

  2. It’s hard to realize Joann, you are not physically here with us. Such a habit of chatting on phone with you, picking out cards for special holidays and just to send a “hi”, passing rooster/hen paraphernalia with a giggle while commenting “Joann, would like that!”, anxious to get your latest tomato “report” sadly to know your voice won’t be telling and your tomatoes won’t be growing ……it’s May here in Sunny Florida but it doesn’t shine as bright since you left
