Mrs. Joan (Joann) Asbury

Mrs. Joan Asbury (Joann) of Madison, Ohio, daughter of the late Ottie and Lilly Marie (Lawson) Harbert, was born in Clarksburg, WV on June 6, 1943. She departed this life on February 20, 2025, in Madison, OH at Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness, being 81 years of age. She had made profession of faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Asbury retired from Inn Madison Nursing Home after many years in dietary.

Joann was the cherished wife of the late Harold Asbury who preceded her in death on February 22, 1991.

Mrs. Asbury leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, Mrs. Kathy Presgrave of CA; A son, Kenny Presgrave (Carole) of Mechanicsville, MD; a special sister, Diann Eagleson of Madison, OH; two brothers, Michael Harbert of Lumberport, WV and Jimmy Harbert of Madison, OH; special cousins, Gloria Jean Morgan of Campbellsville, KY; and Paul Bane of Painesville, OH; 3 stepdaughters and 2 stepsons and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Asbury was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Harbert, of Lumberport, WV; a sister, Janet Romig of Madison, OH; great nephew, Anthony Palma, of Madison OH; Vinne Palma and Savatore Palma Jr., both of Madison, OH; two infant great great-nephews of Madison, OH and a niece, Tracy Welch of Madison OH.

Joann was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking (especially fresh apple cake), watching TV, talking on the phone with family and friends, and playing Setback and Spades with her aunts and others. She enjoyed sitting on the porch watching her flowers grow while playing with her cats. This is what brought her the most joy. Her genuine laugh and compassionate heart will be missed.

The family will received friends and family for visitation on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 4-6 PM EST at the Behm Family Funeral Home located at 26 River Street Madison, OH.

The Memorial Service for Mrs. Asbury will be the following day on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the 11:00 AM EST at the Behm Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville, OH. Deacon Kenneth Meade will be officiating the service.
