Joan Helen Miller, age 86, died on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the Rae-Ann Nursing facility in Geneva, Ohio. Formerly of LaSalle, Michigan she had resided at Rae-Ann since August of 2017, to be near her daughter, due to poor health. She was born in Dundee, Michigan on September 28, 1931 to Dewey and Vyril (Getty) Wittkop. Joan worked at Mercy-Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan as an LPN for almost 20 years, until her retirement at age 65. Left to honor Joan and remember her love are her daughter, Kathleen (Gerry) Freddo; grandchildren, Lynnette (Rob) Irwin of Painesville, Ohio, Kelly (Jordan) Stiner, and Jeffrey Stiner Jr. of LaSalle, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Ashley Irwin of Painesville, Ohio and Ellie Stiner of LaSalle, Michigan; son-in-law Jeff Stiner of LaSalle; brother, Fred (Phyllis) Wittkop and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Melvin (Mo) Miller; her parents; brothers, Alan and John; sons, Gary Alan, Melvin A. Jr., and daughter, Christine Stiner. Joan will be remembered for all the love she had for her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, jigsaw & crossword puzzles and gardening. In accordance with Joans wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behm Funeral Home in Madison, Ohio. Her burial will be at a future date at LaSalle Cemetery in LaSalle, Michigan, next to her husband. The Miller family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Rae-Ann Nursing facility in Geneva, Ohio for their attentiveness and loving care.
