Jimmie R. Houston, Sr., age 75, of Madison, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland. He wa born August 21, 1945 in Vallejo, California where he spent the first years of his life. “Pops” as he was known to his close friends and family was a talented artist who specialized in glass blowing. He moved to Nevada where he started his business that specialized in the production of neon signs.
In 2000 Jimmie met the love of his life Janet Rader and he packed up and moved to Madison where they would spend several years together. They would later be joined by Jimmie’s son, Jim Jr. and he and his children enjoyed the remaining years of his life doing arts and crafts, working on classic cars and fixing up the family home. There are many special memories in that old barn out back.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Jim Jr. (Sarabeth); grandchildren, Gabryella and Jimmie III “Tripp” daughter Naomi and his brother, Preston. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lynne Ann (Merritt) Houston; son, Daniel Christopher Houston; step father Shelby Houston; mother Goldie; and his dear friend Janet Rader.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. The funeral service will begin at 4:00pm at the funeral home. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com
