Jessica N. Westmoreland (née Coggins), age 27, of Mentor, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born October 2, 1991 to David and Dawn Anne (Poludniak) Coggins in Painesville. On December 17, 2016, Jessica married the love-of-her-life, Patrick R. Westmoreland, at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia. A 2010 graduate of Geneva High School, Jessica completed a Bachelor’s Degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Wittenberg University in 2014. She then earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in 2018. She enjoyed crafting, offering friends and family thoughtful and handmade greeting cards, as well as crocheting special and meaningful gifts for her family. Jessica liked the outdoors and hiked often with her dog, “Buckeye”. Most of all, she cherished her friends and family. Jessica will be dearly missed by her husband, Patrick; her parents, David and Kathleen Coggins; her sister, Vickie (Matt) Maurer; nephews, Emerson and Spencer Maurer; grandfather, Donald Poludniak; mother and father-in law, Michael and Bonnie Westmoreland; brother-in-law, Barry (Amanda) Westmoreland; sister-in-law, Carolyn Westmoreland; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Anne Coggins; maternal grandmother, Jean Poludniak; and paternal grandparents, Edward and Sophia Coggins. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway in Geneva. A mass of the Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Assumption Church, 594 W. Main Street in Geneva officiated by Fr. Daniel Finnerty. Burial will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions, in Jessica’s name, to Reds4VEDS, an organization that helps those with vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.   6. Dave and Cathy, I am so sorry or your loss. There are no words I can say to ease your pain. I would like to attend the funeral, but I apologize in advance for not being mentally able to attend. Remember Jessica always and do as she would want you to do. Think if the reverse would have happened and you would have died, what you would have wanted her to do.   7. Cathy & Dave, We are so deeply saddened for your loss of sweet, Jessie. We have such fond memories of watching the girls play tennis at Club Ultimate & all through high school. Dave I have many fond memories of being a co-worker of yours, you were always available for comic-relief & had a proven history of a willingness to help a fellow union brother: I even remember the time you tried to make a welder out of me ! I know this is a difficult time but with the support of so many that think so highly you the storm will be weathered !

  10. I just learned of Jess's passing from the Wittenberg alumni magazine. She was a student in my honors Hitchcock class, and just seeing her name called to mind her bright smile and infectious curiosity and enthusiasm. I am so sorry for your loss.
