Jerry L. Vest

Jerry L. Vest Age 66 of Madison passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his home. Born September 1, 1946 in Cleveland he was the son of Ethel (Christian) & Carl Vest Jerry was a 1964 Graduate of Willoughby South High School. He attended Lakeland Community College and Moler Barber College. Jerry studied under Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell and Martin Parsons. He served as President of Union Local #92 and Director of UFCW Local #880. Jerry was the owner of Top Shelf Salon and was a four time Ohio State Champion Hair Stylist. He was proud to have been able to cut hair in 48 states. Jerry loved fishing in his spare time and was very involved with the Northeast Ohio Walleye Association. Jerry is survived by his longtime companion, Debbie Vargo of Madison; daughter, Donna (Ron) Vest Hareof Ashtabula; grandchildren, Jonathan & Jaymee Vest, Joshua & Alexis Hare; sister, Patsy Downing of Naples, FL, and sister-in-law Ruth Vest of Mentor. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil Vest; sisters, Vivian Knoll and Frances Nichols. Celebration of Life Service will be held Noon-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Jay Wilson Post #112 of the American Legion, 6671 Middle Ridge Road in Madison. Jerry's family would like to suggest that friends and guests planning to attend his life celebration bring a potted plant or perennial that will forever bloom in Jerry's memory.
