James Robert Hamblin, age 75, of Jefferson, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1943, in Painesville, OH, the son of Earl and Alfreda (McMannis) Hamblin. He married Maureen Coon on September 1, 1996 in Geneva, OH.
James was an Air Force Veteran, stationed in Okinawa and Taiwan during Vietnam. He served as a Crew Chief on a C130 airplane for 7 years. He worked at Presite Labor, St. John’s as a custodian, and at Sutherland Marina as a boat mechanic.
An avid Cleveland sports fan, James' motto was, "Never give up hope!" He followed NASCAR and was a race car driver for 30 years at Raceway 7 in Conneaut.
He is survived by wife, Maureen; daughters, Tina (Jason) Bowser, Cheryl (Joe) Potochar; son, Richard (Michele) Hamblin; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Dave (Evelyn) Hamblin; and many loved extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dick and Bill Hamblin.
At Jim’s request, no services will be observed.
