It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Paul Ryan, Jr., beloved father, brother, and cherished friend, who left us peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on October 11, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim lived a life filled with love, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of a true gentleman.
Jim graduated from Collinwood High School, where he was known for his steadfast character and loyalty, often standing out as one of the tough Italian kids who would always lend a helping hand to those in need. His generous heart and unwavering support for family and friends defined his life’s work and relationships.
A self-taught computer guru, Jim had an innate talent that allowed him to excel in a variety of fields, including aerospace as a System Analyst. He explored numerous entrepreneurial ventures throughout his life, from home security to automotive repair, web design, and computer programming. His inquisitive nature and determination, complemented by the friendships he forged with those in high places, helped him expand his knowledge and skills in the ever-evolving world of technology.
Jim was a loving husband and a caring father to his three sons, Christopher, James III, and David Ryan. He instilled in them the values of kindness, hard work, and perseverance, which they carry with them today. He is also survived by his beloved sisters: Diane Sarley, Karen (Mike) Zader, Janet (Anthony) Lopez, and Laura (Tony Tizzano) Ryan; and step father, Don Castora. Together, they will remember Jim not only for his strong spirit but also for his stubbornness, which endeared him to those who knew and loved him. James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, James Ryan, Sr., and Filomena Castora.
Funeral services will be 11am, June 11, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison Ohio 44057, with procession and committal at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon. The family invites all who knew Jim to join in commemorating his life and legacy.
