James “Jim” Patrick Aitken, age 71, of Thompson, Ohio passed away on February 28, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 28, 1953, in Bethesda, MD, the son of David and Madeline (Owen) Aitken.
Jim graduated from Chardon High School in 1972 and went on to automotive school where he studied at Lincoln Tech, Indianapolis, IN and graduated in 1974. Jim met Susan in Indianapolis, her hometown. After Jim graduated, they moved to Chardon, OH where they were later married on June 18, 1975. They would have been married 50 years on June 18th this year.
Jim worked at Euclid Foreign Motors, Lake County Foreign Car, and retired from Adventure Subaru of Painesville, OH in 2020. Jim also had a shop at home where he would work on cars for friends & family in the evenings and on weekends. Working on cars was not all that Jim did. He had a variety of interests & hobbies from baseball, fishing, shooting guns, billiards, ping pong, darts, racing slot cars, Nascar, fireworks, horseshoes, gardening, computers, electronics, music & beer.
Jim was reserved and quiet. He was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. Those that knew him, knew he was a family man and friend, and would do anything for those he loved. He was a loving man who will be dearly missed.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Susan; children, Sylvia Baucco, Daniel Aitken, Rebecca Aitken; siblings, Suzanne (Shawn) Shannon, Thomas (Donna) Aitken, Marybeth (Michael) Adams, Madeline Lee, Catherine (Ian) Westcott; three grandchildren, Ella and Evan Baucco and Morgan Aitken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Madeline (Owen) Aitken.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Anne’s in the Field Church, 5441 South Madison Road, Madison, OH 44057.
Funeral Service will be held immediately following from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Luncheon immediately following the service.
All who knew him or would otherwise like to pay their respects are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
