James H. Furr

James H. Furr, age 84, formerly of Thompson, Oh, passed away, Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Marianna, FL. He was born March 16, 1928 in Elkins, W.Va. to Hale and Ethel Furr. He was married Jan. 12, 1950 to Mildred Clarice Furr in Richwood, W.Va. Jim was a Coal Miner in West Virginia until moving to Thompson in the 1950's where he worked at National Acme of Cleveland and retired from there. He then worked as a Janitor at Thompson-Ledgemont School System for 10 years. He served in the United States Navy in World War II., was a member in good standing in both VFW & American Legion and a past president of Geauga County Little League.
He is survived by his three sons; Michael (Pam) of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew (Marsha) of Marianna, Florida, and Joel Dean of Painesville, Ohio. He is also survived by grandchildren; James and Molly, Sarah (Mike) Higgins and one great-grandchild, Connor James. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Clarice, parents Hale & Ethel Furr, brother Arthur Furr, son Patrick Jan, grandson Grant Furr, granddaughter Kelly Ann Furr.
Friends will be received 6-8 PM, Friday, March 23, 2012 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. The Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson.
