Jakob Benz

Jakob "Jake" Benz, Age 69 Resident of Perry, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. Born June 7, 1941 in Marbach, Switzerland to Lydia (Rohr) & Jakob Benz he married Gloria Armel on 7/17/1971 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jake retired as a farm manager from Losely Nursery and owned his own nursery and green houses ?Swiss Gardens? Jake served in the Swiss Military and received his Masters of Horticulture in Switzerland. He enjoyed his travels to Switzerland and loved everything outdoors, riding his motorcycle and camping. He enjoyed taking friends on guided tours of the nursery while driving his tractor. Jake also enjoyed reading and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by Wife, Gloria Benz of Perry; Sons, Leonardo (Valerie) Benz of Illinois & Pablo (Lindsay) Benz of Perry; Grandchildren, Paelyn & Flora of Perry, Erik, Ethan, & Elijah of Illinois; Brothers, Walter, Karl, Josef & Tomas of Switzerland; Sisters, Hildegard and Helen of Switzerland; His two best friends, Lexie & Thea He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Ridge Road, Perry, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lake County Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd. #E, Mentor, OH 44060-9400 or the Lake County Dog Shelter, 2600 North Ridge Rd., Painesville, OH 44077.
