J. Peter Shannon

J. Peter Shannon, age 74 of Madison, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Geneva Shores. He was born on February 5, 1943 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Shirley (Laughlin) and James Peter Shannon. Pete married Mary Israel in Marietta, OH on February 24, 1968. Pete received a Bachelor of Architecture from Ohio University in 1969 and a Master of Architecture from Kent State in 1989. He was the owner, operator and Principal for an architectural firm in Madison with an interest in architecture and environmental design. He taught at Lakeland Community College and Kent State University for many years and he was recently served on the Madison Zoning Board of Appeals.
Pete is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; sons, Hugh (Michelle) Shannon, of Mayfield Heights, OH; Vaughn (Amanda) Shannon of Miamisburg, OH; grandchildren, Matthew, Michaela, Sophia and Catherine; sisters; Kathleen Williams, of Madison, OH, Maria Ames, of Inverness, FL; Brother: Daniel (Peggy) Shannon, of Pomfert, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be held at 7:00pm.

I had the opportunity to be a graduate assistant in Peter's Understanding Architecture class at KSU. During the time I worked with him he taught me a lot about how to treat and interact with students that has carried on to working with clients in the profession. I am sorry for your loss.
