Irma L. Gnagy

Irma Louise (Hensel) Gnagy, of Madison, Ohio, died on June 27, 2009 at Madison Health Care. She was born on October 31, 1924, in Madison to William Hensel and Martha (Fliedner) Hensel. Irma was a 1943 graduate of Madison Memorial High School, 1947 graduate of Kent State University and received her Master?s Degree from Western Reserve University in 1950. She then taught Home Economics, German, and Biology in the Cleveland and Cleveland Heights school systems. She also managed a family owned Real Estate business in Madison for many years. Irma was preceded in death by her husband Leslie K. Gnagy, whom she married in Madison in 1955. They enjoyed many years of travel, camping, and polka dancing. Irma grew a large vegetable garden every year, and canned and preserved the produce. She was also a member of the Madison Historical society and life member of the YMCA where she enjoyed swimming. Irma is survived by her son Glenn (wife, Annie) Gnagy and granddaughter Isabel Louise Gnagy of Madison. Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. Madison, OH 44057, where friends will be received from noon until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in North Madison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve 300 East 185th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44119.
