Howard C. Gurley, Age 78, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 Broadfield Manor Nursing Home in Madison.
Born May 20, 1931 in Bradley County, Tennessee to Viola (Standridge) & Elzie Gurley.
He was a retired machinist at Gent Machine
Served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Member of Jay Wilson American Legion Post # 112, Masonic Lodge, VFW, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by: Sons, Howard (Pat) Gurley, Jr., Willowick, OH & Bruce L. Gurley Willoughby, OH; Daughters, Donna (Dan) Lowther, Eastlake, OH, Peggy Gurley, Mentor, OH, Nadine (Chuck) Emming, Madison, OH; 10 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Marie Orr, Cleveland, TN; Helen Martindale, Cortland, MS, Martha Norris, Atlanta, GA.
He was preceded in death by His parents; Brother, Walter Gurley; Sister, Elsie Wilson; Longtime Companion, Lois McNab.
Friends will be received 2-4:00 pm and 6-7:30 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at The Behm Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, OHIO.
Funeral Service will be 7:30 pm Tuesday, following visitation at the funeral home.
