Harlan J. Hoffman

Harlan J. Hoffman, age 89, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He was born January 31, 1924 in Montville to Minnie M. (Mausling) & Fred P. Hoffman and married Theodora E. Bandelewski in Thompson, Ohio on November 30, 1943.
Harlan was the owner of Hoffman Oil. He was a 1941 Graduate of Thompson High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. Harlan played baseball and basketball after serving in the Army. He served with the Madison Fire Department for 36 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Harlan was an avid Cleveland sports fanatic and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Theodora E. Hoffman of Madison; son, Thomas Hoffman of Madison; daughters, Sandra (Frank) Krasneski of Geneva and Patricia (Dr. Guy) Syvertsen of Pepper Pike, OH; grandchildren, Tina, Jake, Heather, Jonathan, Ryan and Diana; 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Barbara (Pete) Burnett of Montville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hattie Fillingham.
Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio with Rev. Sean Donnelly officiating. Final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
