Gladys E. Koontz Gladys Elizabeth (Wilson) Koontz, 83, of Geneva, passed away after a lengthy battle with dementia, surrounded by her family at Geneva Shores Nursing Home, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born July 7, 1933, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Samual Jasper and Beulah Rosie (Daughenbaugh) Wilson. Gladys married the love of her life, William Koontz, in Maryland on February 14, 1954. Mrs. Koontz graduated from the first class of Nursing at Knoedler School of Practical Nurse Education. She was a member of the Eagle's Club and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6846 in Geneva. She was also active with the Madison Senior Center and the Silver Sneakers exercise club at the Madison YMCA. Gladys enjoyed card games, board games, and was an avid reader, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Those close to Gladys learned to appreciate her eccentric personality and often found themselves the brunt of her mischievous shenanigans. She was preceded in death by her husband William; and her parents. Her family would like to acknowledge the kind staff of Geneva Shores and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their support, encouragement and love for Gladys. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Final resting place will be in Stoystown Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
