Gertrude M. Germack, 79, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008, at her home. she was born July 13, 1929 in Willoughby, Ohio, to Lena Adella (Smith) & Carl W. Eland and married Walter Germack in Madison, Ohio on February 3, 1952, after meeting in the summer of 1950 at the Austinburg Skating Rink. She formerly was a Customer Service and New Accounts Representative at Key Bank Mrs. Germack attended Madison Schools. She began working for Farmers National Bank, now known as Key Bank, in 1968 as a teller and retired in 1985. Had previously worked at Gary Allen Sportswear in Painesville, the Old Edwards Plant in Madison at the Seat cover factory. Co-owner/secretary of Germack Aircraft Maintenance Service and Airport, which she opened with her husband in 1956. They had hosted 3 airshows at the airport. She had also managed Northeast Ohio Flight School. In 1982 she opened the Country Hutch and Quilting store with her daughter Leita until 1993. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church where she was President of the Altar and Rosary Society. Member of Harpersfield Ruritans, Country Quilters, Past member of Conneaut Quilt Guild, Cinderella Fire Auxiliary, and Charter member of the Harpersfield Heritage Society. She was also a Harpersfield Township election booth worker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, Scrapbooking and spending time with her family. Surviving Family: Husband, Walter Germack; 2 Daughters, Leita (Roger) Shahan, Harpersfield, OH and Robin Germack, Geneva, OH; Son, Garret (Kathleen) Germack, Harpersfield, OH; 5 Grandchildren; 4 Step Grandchildren;5 Great Grandchildren;6 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Step Great Great Grandchild; 3 Brothers, George (Betty) Eland, Madison, OH, Frank (Anna) Eland, Hurst, TX and Bill (Joanne) Pickerton, Medina, OH; Sister, Betty Theiland, Port Orange, FLA. Preceded in Death by: Her parents, daughter, Kathleen Marie Sherer, brother, Carl Eland Stonebraker Friends will be received: 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday, December 18, 2008 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday, December 19, 2008 at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva with Rev. Melvin Rusnak of Assumption Church officiating Burial will be in Harpersfield Cemetery in Harpersfield Township at a later date. Contributions: St. Vincent DePaul, 594 W.
