Geraldine Pekarski

Geraldine L. Pekarski, age 87, of Harpersfield Township, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013. She was born July 4, 1925 in Harpersfield Township to Nellie (Carney) & Gerald L. Bishop and married Edward F. Pekarski in Geneva on September 20, 1958. She and her husband owned and operated a grape farm. She was a1943 graduate of Geneva High School. Geraldine had been Regent of the Elizabeth Harper Chapter of the DAR, County President of Ashtaubla County Little League, Secretary of Cork PTA, Harpersfield Township Citizen of the Year in 2000, charter life member of Friends of the Library and charter life member of Harpersfield Heritage Society. She also maintained veterans' flags in Harpersfield cemeteries. She is survived by her sons Vance (Stella) Grabelsek & Wayne (Debbie) Grabelsek both of Harpersfield Township; daughters, Valerie (Robert) Virant of Austinburg, OH & Denise (Richard) Curtis of Rome, OH; grandchildren, Cody Grabelsek & Vicki (Tim) Caruthers; sister, Geralda Murphy of Willoughby Hills, OH. Geraldine was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Grabelsek; second husband, Edward Pekarski and her parents. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Harpersfield Community Center, 5604 Cork Cold Springs Rd, Geneva, OH. Contributions may be made to the Harpersfield United Methodist Church, 224 Garford Rd, Geneva, OH 44041, Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, or Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department, 5604 Cork Cold Springs Rd., Geneva, OH 44041.
