Gerald E. "Yank" Rathbun

Gerald E. "Yank" Rathbun, age 94, of Fletcher, NC passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Elizabeth House Hospice in Flat Rock, NC. Born March 13, 1921 in Ubly, Michigan he was the son of Howard and Mildred (Wetzel) Rathbun. He married Nancy Hunter on June 7, 1980 in Willoughby, Ohio.
Yank served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired as the Chief Engineer at Richmond Heights General Hospital and moved to Fletcher, NC. Yank was an avid golfer and enjoyed the links at the High Vista Country Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends playing a good game of poker.
He is survived by his son, Duane (Sandra) Rathbun of Perry, OH; daughters, Beverly Clark of Madison, OH, and Paulette Bennett of New Jersey; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Allan Rathbun; sisters, Iola Strauss, Mary Vatter, Ruth Knoll, and Arlene Regentin. Yank was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy; brothers, Chester and Keith.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio 44057. There will be 1 hour of visitation prior to service. Gerald's family will observe private burial services at a later date.
