George Stanley Garbutt, Jr.

George Stanley Garbutt, Jr., age 89, of East Trumbull OH, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Symphony of Mentor. He was born on February 3, 1928, in East Trumbull, OH, to Iva B. (Mitchell) and George S. Garbutt, Sr. George married Ellen Hissa in 1949 and they started their family. George worked at Cleveland Crane until it closed in 1984 and continued with Bertin Steel where he later retired. He enjoyed vegetable gardening. In later years, he sold gladiolas at his roadside stand. George could fix anything and was known for being very thrifty. The man who always left an impression will be missed…. George is survived by his daughters, Iva (Andy) Chom, Julie (Hannah Love) Garbutt; son, George S. Garbutt; granddaughter, Georgette (Donald) Branham; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Nicole, Mikayla; sister, Jennie (Jack) Armstrong; brothers, John (Sandy) Garbutt, and Robert Garbutt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ellen; parents; daughter-in-law Shirley Garbutt; brother, Jim; sisters, Edna and Mary Lou. Friends will be received from 6pm to 8p.m. Wed. July 19, 2017 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thurs July 20, 2017 at the funeral home.
