George Spaid, Sr., 75, of North Madison, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Lake Health West Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1943 in Massillon, OH to Gene and Ruth (Sewell) Spaid.
George served with the Cleveland Police Department as a police officer and later worked as a truck driver and a bus driver for Madison Schools. George enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending car shows, and was a Pittsburg Steelers fan. He loved animals as well, especially his babies, Ginger and Gunner.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances A. (King); children George E. (Nichole) Spaid, Jr., Victoria (Mike) Hoffee, Gene (Connie) Spaid, Tracy Spaid and Theresa Spaid; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brother, John (Jackie) Spaid and sister, Carol Spaid. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Terry Spaid and Bonnie Spaid.
A memorial service for George will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, OH. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Madison Memorial Cemetery on Arcola Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd. Bldg.E Mentor, OH 44060.
