George H. Birr

George H. Birr, Age 84, resident of Madison, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in Madison. Born August 11, 1923 in Cleveland to Barbara (Tinl) & Herman Birr. He married Mary Garven in Cleveland, Ohio on 5/29/1948. He was a Stationary Engineer at Cleveland Illuminating Company. George enjoyed sports. He was a member of the Madison Knights of Columbus, member of Immaculate Conception Church where he was in the choir and helped with bingo and other church activities. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in both Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He is survived by Wife: Mary Birr of Madison; 3 Daughters, Barbara (RC) Green of North Palm Beach, Florida, Kathleen (Ronald) Gillette of Geneva, Karen (Jack) Dufour of Ashtablua; 10 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister, Evelyn Nicklas of Seven Hills, OH He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara & Herman Birr Friends will be received 2-5 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2008, at The Behm Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison. Bishop A. J. Quinn and Rev. Sean Donnelly will be officiating.
