George F. Newland Jr., age 86, of Madison, passed away peacefully at Madison Health Care on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was born on March 12, 1936 in Cleveland, to Carol J. (Smith) and George F. Newland, Sr. He married Julia A. Kazsmer on January 30, 1959.  George proudly served in the U.S. Army based in Germany during the Korean War from 1955 to 1956.  He was a member of American Legion Post 112. George is survived by son, Timothy L. Lisa (Tiede) Newland; daughter, Darlene A. (Newland) Charles "Butch" L. Cline; grandson, Charles L. Cline II; granddaughter, Stephanie C. Cline; sisters, Carol A. (Newland) Kazsmer, brother, William (Newland) Bemis and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia A. Newland; parents; sister, Narda A. (James) (Newland) Platt; brother-in-law, John F. Kazsmer; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Ellie Newland; and sister-in-law, Fran Bemis. Friends will be received from 5-7 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 31st at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville. Contributions may be made in George’s name to Alzheimer’s Association of Cleveland, 23215 Commerce Park, Ste 300 Beechwood, OH 44122.
