Florence Mae (Greuey) Moore, 97, of Madison, was "Promoted to Glory" on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Hospice House in Euclid after a long and fulfilling life. More than anything Florence loved the Lord and her life was a testimony of unfailing love and devotion. Born on August 22, 1914 to Jacob and Savilla (Fye) Greuey in Edgeworth, PA; she was the fifth of eight children and the last remaining of her family. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Flip" by her family. A 1932 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, she married her husband of over 50 years, Robert Moore in 1937. Mrs. Moore was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army church where she was also employed for over 50 years, only retiring last August 2011 at the age of 96. Donating her time and energy to the service of those in need, she was involved in countless programs with The Salvation Army and throughout Lake County, including feeding the homeless at the Army Soup Kitchen, cooking for the Goldenaires Program, preparing packages for soldiers, a Sunday School teacher, and leading the women's Home League for over 60 years. Florence also was involved with the League of Mercy, visiting nursing homes and ministering to the sick. Florence received multiple awards throughout her life for showing leadership and commitment to helping others, including The Salvation Army Volunteer of the Year Award in 1994, the Women's Ministries Leader of the Year Award in 1995, the 2006 Clem Urbanski Award from the United Way and Harvest for Hunger, as well as being inducted into the Lake County Council on Aging Hall of Fame in 2009. She is survived by daughters, Bobbie (Tom) Owens, Billie Willis & Sandra (Ray) Walling, as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Moore; her son, L/Cpl Richard A. Moore who died in Vietnam in 1969; son-in-law, Scottie Willis; grandson, Joey Willis; her parents and all 7 of her siblings. Friends are invited to call 3-6 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2012, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be held 11 AM, Monday, June 25, 2012 at the funeral home with Major Richard Bosh officiating. Final Resting Place will be Fairview Cemetery in Madison. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her name to The Salvation Army, 69 Pearl St., Painesville, OH 44077.
