Florence M. Spiegel, age 96, died Saturday, Sep. 10, 2011. She was born May 15, 1915, in Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa., the daughter of Alfred and Margaret Bowersox. She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State College in 1936, where she worked on the campus and met her future husband, Edward F. Spiegel. Florence and Ed were married on May 11, 1940, in State College, Pa. and moved to Geneva, Ohio in 1945. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, active in many circles and secretary of the Alter Guild for 12 years; she was a member of the Progressive Literary Club and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star; she belonged to many bridge clubs, often playing her favorite game several times a week. Florence is survived by her daughters, Betty Edwards of Chambersburg, Pa. and Margery Marcy of Austinburg; grandchildren, Michelle Kiersarsky of Richmond, Va.., Steve Edwards of Reinholds, Pa.., Laura Ringhiser of Rockbridge, Ohio and Clark Marcy of Henderson, Nev.; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Bailey Kiersarsky and Rachael Edwards. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; son-in-law, Dr. Robert Edwards in 1997; her sister, Pearle Gilliland in 2004; and a son-in-law, Cameron Marcy in 2007. There will be no calling hours with a private graveside service to be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva. Arrangements are being handled by THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, Geneva.
