Fay Green Francis passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, surrounded by family. Fay was born to Ruth and Walter Green on October 30, 1923, in Geneva, Ohio. She was a lifelong resident of Madison, growing up on the Green Farm. Fay graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1941 and earned her BA degree in Sociology from Ohio University in 1946. She was employed as an Adoption Investigator for the Lake County Probate Court, served 30 years as Administrator and Board Member for the Lake County Society for Rehabilitation and was the volunteer coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Madison. Fay was a member of Chapel United Methodist Church. Fay was married for 36 years to Roger L. Atkin, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1983. She and J. Thomas Francis were married in 1989 and enjoyed 22 years together. Fay was an avid golfer, loved to travel, read and play bridge. She enjoyed living on Lake Erie and spending winters on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Fay will be remembered for the many lives she touched, for her loving heart, her enthusiasm for life, her beautiful blue eyes and her kind smile. She is survived by Husband, J. Thomas Francis of Madison; Daughter, Linda (Robert) Morley of Williamston, MI; Sons, Roger (Paula) Atkin of Oxford, OH, Richard Atkin of Naples, FL; Stepsons, Stuart (Diana) Francis of San Francisco, CA, Thomas Francis of Lake Wylie, SC; Grandchildren, Kacy (Quan) Morley Walters, Abby Morley, Daniel Atkin, Andrea Francis, Emily Francis, Mick Francis & Lucy Francis; Great-Granddaughter, Bella Fay Walters; Brothers, Walter Lovell Green, Joseph (Linda) Green; Many dear in-laws and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by 1st husband, Roger L. Atkin, Sr., Granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Atkin; Parents; Sister, Kaye Zimmerman Friends will be received 1:30 to 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 12, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio with a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm. Gretchen Wagner of Hospice of The Western Reserve will be officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
