F. Bill Crawford

F. Bill Crawford, age 69 of Geneva, passed away at his home on Friday, January 9, 2015. Born October 5, 1945 in Harriman, TN he was the son of the late Willie and Betty (Underwood) Crawford. He married Marilyn Zalkowski in Indiana on April 13, 1966.
Bill had a passion for sports and the gift of coaching. Over his many years of coaching successful teams he felt privileged to have a positive influence on the lives of so many young people. In his early years he began coaching youth basketball in Geneva where he coached the winning Pipers basketball team and in the 1970's he coached track, basketball, and soccer at Geneva High School. He then went on to many more successful years at Christian Life Academy, NDCL, the Madison Blue Streaks, and Grand River Academy. In his final days as a coach he was most proud of the work he was able to do at Braden Junior High School and the young men he was fortunate to coach. Bill had many other interests in his life including his membership to the Elks Club while during the summer months he could be found teeing up at many area golf courses including his home at the Harbor Golf Club.
A member of Bakers Union Local 880 Bill retired from Giant Eagle in 2007.
He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; daughters: Angela (David) Geis of Chicago, Illinois, and Kristen (Tony) Todd of Glen Allen, Virginia; sisters: Pat, Cathy, and Reba; brothers: Lummie, Nicky, Melvin, and Eddy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bobby.
Friends will be received from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva. There will be a memorial service for Bill at 1pm.
