Eric Lindahl

Eric Lindahl, 76, of Madison, Ohio rode off into his final sunset on Thursday, September 3 rd after a brief
hospitalization at Cleveland’s University Hospital.

A New Year’s baby, born January 1, 1950 to Martin and Nellie (Buzikowski) Lindahl, Eric grew up in
Wickliffe, Ohio with his brother, Curtis. They were raised to love the outdoors, golf, and fast cars. After
graduating high school in 1968, Eric earned an associates degree in education from Lakeland Community
College. While working on his degree, he met his wife, Patricia, on the Beachland Park tennis courts in
Cleveland. The two were married on June 30, 1972.

Over the next 10 years, they were blessed with three children – Becky, Travis and Rory. He taught them
to work hard and play hard, and showed what it meant to be kind, how to sacrifice, and how to
compromise. Rarely seen not smiling, when anyone asked how he was doing, they’d usually get a jovial
“Outstanding in my field” in response. Those who knew him would describe him as friendly, warm, and
appreciative of the little things with a vibrant imagination. His kids and grandkids will remember the
annual race to call him and wish him happy birthday after the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve.
Though he’d washed windows as a teen, and worked retail (KMart) while raising his young family, his
favorite job was as a saw operator at Springwood Products helping to manufacture pallets. He liked
working with his hands and described the work as almost meditative. As he approached retirement, he
worked several odd jobs including a local nursery and golf course, happy to be able to earn a couple of
bucks while working outside – and getting free golf!

In recent years, it was not unusual to find him relaxing to surfer music – like the Beach Boys or
Surfrajettes – or classic country like Johnny Cash, or laughing hysterically at Dean Martin roasts, no
matter how many times he’d seen them. He found joy in Lake Metropark walks with his wife, drives to
his Dorset property, visits from his kids, and watching his three granddaughters grow from babies to
beautiful, smart and active young ladies. And, like the rest of us, he found frustration with Cleveland
sports. He was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Madison, where he no doubt
offered prayers for his friends and family – as well as those aforementioned Cleveland sports teams.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Martin Lindahl and mother, Nellie (Buzikowski) Lindahl. After
54 years of marriage, he’ll be waiting patiently (nothing new there) for his wife, Patricia (Beuck) Lindahl.
He’s also survived by his daughter Becky (Donovan) Chamberlin; sons Travis (Anna) Lindahl and Rory
(Kathy Bumbarger) Lindahl; granddaughters – Addison, Erin and Lena Lindahl; brother Curtis (Karen)
Lindahl; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Behm Family Funeral Home (26 River St, Madison, OH 44057) on Friday, Sept. 11, from 5pm to 7pm. A funeral mass will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, at Immaculate Conception Church at 11am.
