Ellen J. Kangas

Ellen J. Kangas, age 89, of Painesville, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Madison Heath Care. She was born August 19, 1927 in Kingsville to Jay and Hazel (Leonard) Burtt.
Ellen graduated from Harvey High School, and within a couple hours of graduating, she married the love of her life, John Kangas, on June 7, 1942. He was on leave from the Army during WWII, and the time was right for a wedding. She has been a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Painesville and enjoyed crafting and creating beautiful crotchet and embroidered keepsakes. A loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma, Ellen will be missed by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her sons, John (Betty) Kangas and Kenneth (Cindy) Kangas; daughter, Linda Peterson; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Ellen was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 63 years, John; and her parents.
Friends will be received 4-5pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison OH 44057, with a memorial service following at 5pm. Pastor Jonathan Schroeder will celebrate the service.
