Elizabeth (Betty) Clara Begalke, 92 of Anthem, Arizona passed away December 12, 2009 in Glendale, Arizona. She was a Geneva/Madison, Ohio resident until her move to Arizona in 2007. Born on October 31st, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Clara (Reiter) Pohl. She owned and operated Betty?s Motel in Geneva for 40 years. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for 25 years. Betty was an active member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in which she belonged to several different groups. Recently, she belonged to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Anthem, AZ. Betty enjoyed her new adventurous life in Arizona. She wanted to see all it had to offer. Her experiences there were many which included a hot air balloon ride and she felt blessed to explore the desert southwest with her family. The love of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. You could always count on Grandma to satisfy your sweet tooth with her wonderful baking. Her collection of bird houses represented her love of the outdoors. Betty will be greatly missed by all who loved her and are so blessed to have known her and shared a part of her life. She is survived by sons Edward A. (Frances) Begalke Jr. of Anthem, AZ and John C. (Jacqueline) Begalke of Loveland, OH. Grandchildren Frank (Tracy) Begalke of Anthem, AZ. Dr. Jason Begalke of Farmington Hills, MI. Cherise (Jerry) Van Cleve of Anthem, AZ. John Begalke of Loveland, OH. Courtney (Chuck) Viox of Goshen, OH. Great-Grandchildren Marlin, Maddy, & Griffin Begalke of Anthem, AZ. Nicholas Van Cleve (her sweetie pie) of Anthem, AZ. Sydney & Chandler Viox of Goshen, OH. She was preceded in death by her Parents and her Husband of 64 years, Edward A. Begalke Visitation will be Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 from 10 to 11:30 AM at Behm Funeral Home 26 River Street in Madison, Ohio with graveside service at 12 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on State Route 84 in Geneva, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the New River Senior Center, 48606 N. 17TH Ave., New River, AZ 85087.
