Edith I. Nixon, Age 99,of Chesterland, Ohio, formerly of Madison & Columbus,
passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Born December 4, 1910 in Irondale to Laura Celia (Downard) & Martin Lawrence Grimm, she married Delbert Eugene Nixon at Columbus, Ohio on April 17, 1943.
She was a former employee of the National Exchange Bank and Internal Revenue Service in Steubenville and held various positions within the State of Ohio Department of Mental Health.
Assisted her husband in managing the former Madison Opportunity Village for close to 20 years. Member of Mayfield Methodist Church. Former member, Sunday school teacher and youth advisor for Park United Methodist Church, Madison. 25 year member and volunteer at Trinity United Methodist Church in Columbus. Long time member of the YMCA Board in Madison.
Survivors include her Daughter,Judith K. Lawrence, Chesterland; Son, Mark (Kari) Nixon, Charlotte, NC; 2 Grandchildren, Emily D. & Derek Matthew Nixon; 4 Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in Death by: her Husband, Delbert E. Nixon, July 7, 2002; Infant Daughter, Joyce Nixon; Parents; Daughter-in-Law, Patsy Nixon; Brother, Clifford ?Tip? Grimm
Friends will be received 1-2:00 pm, Saturday, August 14, 2010, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio with a Funeral Service following at 2:00.
Final Resting Place will be Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Irondale, Ohio.
